The use of gas, such as LNG, and other low-flashpoint fuels such as ships’ fuel has increased in recent years and poses particular safety challenges. To manage these properly the IMO adopted the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code) in 2015 and has added related aspects to STCW. The IGF training allows seafarers to comply with Regulation V/3 of the STCW Convention, ‘Mandatory minimum requirements for the training and qualifications of masters, ratings and other personnel on ships subject to the IGF Code’, which comes into force in January 2017.
We offer two courses:
Please note that both courses exclude a practical fire-fighting exercise.
The course complies with the STCW Code as amended in 2010 and has been approved by the Belgian Maritime Administration.
